VIRTUALLY SHAKESPEARE
This 8-Week Class may be taken as part of the 2-Year Chekhov Training at MCITStudio. Along with Studio Members, we welcome Non-Studio Actors with little or no training in Shakespeare as well as those who have experience in acting Shakespeare. Classes may be divided into groups as needed. We will be using Breakout Rooms on ZOOM for small group exercises, scene work, private coaching and more. The class will be shaped to accord with the various participants (and don't be shy about asking for what you want). 8 weeks is a short time, so it is imperative that you work outside of class. This includes setting up times with a scene partner, arranging private chats with the instructor, virtual meet ups with classmates to compare notes and to play, etc.
We start with the text, uncover the acting clues that lie within, engage in games and exercises that allow us to own it and bring the words to life. As part of this class, it is expected that all MCITStudio Members will be applying the Chekhov Technique to your explorations of Shakespeare. If you are a Non-Studio Member, you are welcome to use what you know and your artistic instinct in your explorations of text, character and action. to your adventures in Shakespeare. As always, work with the techniques that “light you up.” The aim is to demystify Shakespeare, to develop personal connection, to embody text and character and to find inspiration. CHEERS...
